Ouija Board – Why is it Being Sold as a Kids Toy?

(Ouija Game Board – Now kids can play with Spirits.. Have fun Kids..)

One of the most powerful forms of communicating with spirits or ghosts is the old Ouija Board. The Ouija board (an old Occult tool) can be used to allow the spirit to communicate through letters easily and also allow does allow the wielder to ability to ask questions.. It has been used for hundreds of years and in many testimonies and studies has showed to help remove spirits and even help in some cases solve crimes..

ouija board game

Now here comes the weird thing… For some reason the board is being marketed in stores like it is a kids toy.. Oh here kids go play with the spirits, no harm done there.. What the..? Is this the biggest flaw in intelligence? Let’s sell something that conjure spirits into this world..

Whether or not the kids know how to use it, the Ouija board was developed on many years of learning what worked best with spirits from trial and error to make a spirit communication tool.. What would they think, now knowing it is seen like a toy or a joke..?

I Suppose in the end, it is up to the consumer whether it sells well or not.. However still, Is this a wise idea really? In a way it is like saying should we sell guns to kids? Crazy if you ask me..

  1. Seen them for sale at Toy-R-You as a board game and had the same reaction as you describe. I’d point the parents to toxicshaman.com if i thought someone so foolish knew how to read.

  2. You’re absurd!
Ouija Board’s cannot “conjure” spirits, they do not act as a communication tool to otherworldly dimensions, they are pieces of cardboard that have Gothic-style letters and numbers painted on. They only work because the person using them wants to see it work; it is the subconscious that moves the seemingly “mystifying” oracle, not the hands of a deceased person.

I’m 16, does that mean I’m too young to have such a powerful, magical tool in my possession? NO! It is the opinion of a moronic prude that Ouija Board’s are unsafe.

(by the way, no one in the history of the World, has ever solved a crime using a Ouija Board. That would be unconstitutional seeing as how everyone is entitled to a FAIR trial; not a load-of-shit cardboard GAME!)

    • Hey Tyler
Thanks for the visit. What I would recommend you do is some reading on the History of such items (the Occult by Colin Wilson is a good start). It is risky seeing everything from a skeptics point, without awareness. If you look around you will notice many elements around us that are ignored but very powerful. Space for one, limitlessness, time, internal energies, consciousness and many more..
With a Ouija Board the subconscious does have an element to some degree, however legitimate use is not tapping into such as the whole.. Communication is possible like many Occult tools. The subconsious on many levels is very powerful, it can help us tap into internal energys better, our higher self and also heal to name a few.. In a way it is like a key to inner doors not just an element of the mind or physical world.
Try to look at all the angles of what makes up this amazing world, not just the physical.. 🙂

With the element of solving crime, it could only be used to help gather where evidence is to help solve the crime.. Same as pyschic detectives used in many countries in the world such as the US. They communicate or get visions to help solve. Alison Dubois to name one example.

    • Hey Spencer,
A Ouiji board is a spiritual tool and a symbol for connecting with passed on spirits. It does not matter whether you believe or not, it is about application of what it is capable. It is not something to be used as a toy.. Many cases of spiritual use have been recorded with this device..

  6. There is a pink version of the Ouija the targets little girls as young as eight, it even comes with it’s own travel case for slumber parties. This is not a toy, it’s a form of Automatic writing which involes allowing a ” spirit ” to manipulate ones body to write out Occult information. There is an ongoing boycott of Hasbro for their marketing of this item.

  7. Hey Tim,

Is the Ouija board a thing of the mind or a thing of spirits? Your mind is a very powerful tool of it’s own and can create the most frightening thoughts, pictures, and other such things that can convince you to be true. You hear the symptoms of an illness suddenly your back has been hurting for ages or your coughing. So the mind itself may play a tremendous part in this.

Yet the religion Christianity believes that these are demons conjoured up to take over your soul. To bring you to hell. These may just as well be forces that we aren’t capable of dealing with, that could take over us, controll us through our bodies.

But who can say? Last time I checked nobody here has been to hell and back [at least not literally].

That is where I stand on the matter, sometimes I get the feelings that there is a spirit, or some sort of presence with me, but other times it’s just a load of crap used to scare whoever.

    • There are many elements to ponder here Lily. You have to see from all angles, yes the mind is a powerful tool which effects the spirit. If the mind believes something strongly then the spirit will respond. Meditation can help in this department for better understanding of the source of all.. At the same time you can look at it like there is nothing, but on the other hand many mysteries are right in front of you.. One being the limitlessness of space and another being the inner world which many call the spirit. 🙂

As for the board, it is a tool based on belief like many magical tools. This however does not mean it is a toy of the mind, many elements are behind what we can see right in front of us.. Ask any guru or enlightened person and they will say the same, the mind clouds what is really there.. The world beyond the mind, the spirit and the energy behind everything, living in the now..

  9. It think it’s a disgrace and an insult to us occultists. Also, children are not supposed to touch such energies because their minds are faragile and they are easily shoked. The right time to start even trying to have a spiritual contact is when you have enough knowledge over what you might be going through, how can a child know that? One hour they’re watching pokemon on tv and one hour later you find them playing with a Spirit board? Makes no sense. I am all for making esoteric knowledge available to everyone (expecially the wise) but that doesn’t mean it needs to be sold out as a toy. SHAME.

Why bring political aspects into a spiritual discussion? Is that really necessary? I’m a Republican, and fully believe in Ouija boards and other things spiritual. The experiences I have had with psychics and ouija boards have been eerily accurate and intense. A few friends and I bought said board from Toys R Us, and it definitely worked. We followed all appropriate rules, of course, and our experience was incredible. We were alarmed when we all saw each other’s fingers not touching it, and the planchet was still moving and replying to questions we asked. All answers were accurate, even though we didn’t know at the time. We had to ask my friend’s family members about this person we talked to, and everything she said was true.

This should most certainly NOT be sold as a children’s toy. Some things are best left untouched by people who don’t respect the unknown.

  11. hey timon i believe what you are saying is true..but then again if the child doesn’t know what they are doing and the “cardboard” game is sold in stores then obviously its nothing major but it shouldn’t be advertised as a joke because there are people who really have had experiences.. a child playing a ouija “cardboard” game is just like telling one an other scary stories i mean its most likely the other person is going to move the in Cardboard terms: “Message indicator”.

  12. I’m in two minds of the board… I’ve been reading up on the subject for some time now and still haven’t decided if its real or not. On one hand maybe it is just a board game which triggers a child’s imagination and only seems real because they want it to be or are scared into it. But then i start thinking wait, lets look beyond the obvious here; this board obviously symbolizes a tool which can be used to contact “spirits” so maybe some people can use them correctly and do just that and maybe some can’t.

I’m 17 years old but have only used the board once and nothing happened.. a few of us got spooked on what we believed to be noises of the night but that was about it. Next time I’m going to test it with a more open mind and not just the attitude of “its just a game”.

Maybe sometimes we need to accept things are real before we see them.

Now, how would the profane like it if such toy was being sold in stores? LMAO. 17. I’m not the same Vanessa from before – however I am a couple years older than she, almost 18.
I have been practicing the occult for many years, I’ve always read mythology and have seen spirits, heard over from the other side and countless other things, for the past 5 – 7 years I have been a praciticing Witch-Shaman. To be exact I’m a Eclectic-Pagan-Shamanic-Witch. I’ve been gaining more and more knowledge on this side of life, and am also very philosophic. Going to university within a couple days.
I agree that it shouldn’t be sold to young childern, I agree with Magus. Which is another reason why childern (18 and under) shouldn’t have sex or do drugs. Because their/our minds are too young and oppresionable! Both in the physical sense and the spiritual sense. Which would lead to addictions and many other things!
I’ve had bad expirences with spirits before, because when I was younger I was stupid and experimental, never had a ouija board, but I would figure out other ways. And it’s also and insult to people who seriously practice [anything] and do mediumship. Selling it as a toy, would be like selling . . . plastic bombs! Which they do anyway! Toy guns, bombs, sexy looking dolls! etc! What is it teaching them?
However, on the more spiritual side, if the child is sensitive it could lead to possessions, mental issues all that great spiritual/pshycological stuff. My dad had one of those, bad things happened. And he is sensitive to spirits.
It just SHOULD NOT be sold to little kids! As a party favour, toy or joke.

  19. “let’s sell some thing that conjures spirits into this world”….. but haven’t spirits always been with us, floating all around us and and peeking in on us when ever they want to? who says we need ouija boards to get them to come? seems to me a thing of the ether really wouldn’t have to be waiting around for a group of kids to gather around a ouija board and ask, “is there any body there?” (by the way, i find the use of the word, “any body” kind of funny – considering spirits don’t have bodies…. being that they’re – spirits, and all…..) i mean, really…. if spirits can just float all around and go where ever they want, do they really need people still encased in their bodies of flesh to “invite” them here to this “plane” of existence? think i’ll have me a ouija seance this halloween…. at MID NIGHT!!!!! ooooooohhweeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh…… happy halloween, every one!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. They’re NOT a game !! Kids should not look at them as a game nor should adults. They are worse then a seance, you are not communicating with spirits your only bringing in the dead. I know friend’s grandparents that have had horrible supernatural things happen to her throughout her life after she used one of these. It’s best to stay away from them. Especially if you don’t know what it is or what your up against or what to expect afterward.

  21. You should all be fairly embarrassed that our 16-year-old friend Tyler is the best informed poster so far. Rather than tell him to do some reading, everyone here should do some themselves. But instead of silly nonsense books that take advantage of willing victims, try intelligent respected factual materials. The relevant facts:

    1. The Parker Brothers toy company has held the exclusive patent/license to make these things for decades. They’ve always been toys. Yes, even your grandmother’s one or the one your favorite “enlightened person” uses.

    2. If you need to know how it works, try looking up the term “ideomotor effect” and the well established, scientifically vetted, peer-reviewed literature that proves it.

    3. It is very sad to see “enlightened person” and “guru” equated. If you want someone enlightened to how the world and universe work, a scientist is the enlightened person.

    4. Stop being so afraid of a children’s game. It is equally harmless in all colors. He k, mix some drinks, call a few friends and have a party with the thing. You’ll see that mainly you end up spelling dirty words and laughing a lot. If you’re really cheap, you can conduct you super scary seance with a Scrabble or Candyland board or some other fine product of the Parker Brothers Company.

    5. You need to get out more.

  22. You guys want a real Ouija Board story?

I played it last night at 3 am for the sake of the lols…

And all i got from it were lols, no magical energy, no cryptic details, just a rather funny board game. I not going to be haunted for the rest of my life, and grill out my own brain with a power tool or all these other stupid stories you people have heard… IF those stories were even true to begin with, which I very much doubt, then I am doubting the mental stability of the user PRIOR to playing this game.

It’s time for people to stop living in fear of these pathetic ghost stories people conjured up many centuries ago to explain the (at the time) unexplainable events.

This thing was sold as a kids toy because that’s all it is good for, just a bit of freaky fun.

Thanks for the comment, however if the board is used properly and a spirit does decide to communicate it is another story. Before making a proper decision on a serious tool i would recommend reading some of the many texts and documents relating to its use over the last few thousand years.

It answered my questions spot on. I didn’t even have to ask verbally, just mentally and again, spot on answers. After that I left pretty freaked out and never played with it again. It can open doors to things that you might regret.

    • Hey Anarian,
Good question, I would recommend reading on the subject of the Book of Solomon where he describes spells for trapping demons and then forcing them to do what he wanted. That is where the story of the magick carpet came from and religion based on his son. If you find that book it is definitely a good read and it goes over demon trapping. There are warnings though, spirit trapping is very dangerous and most that have attempted it even for a short time tend to go a bit crazy. Playing with some strong forces.

I cant believe those comments such as the one from the 16 years old girl… it shows that she hadnt seen anything more than her own belly… or maybe someone died around her and she tried to have a contact with his energetic form… facing nothing but emptiness she might have been pissed and decuded she would throw her scepticism and her hate to the World by writing words so harsh in reply to a good post, in my opinion…

I understand why there are skepticals people and total unbelievers. And somehow i always sorta envy them… the fact they dont believe seems like a protection itself…

But as a mid thirties psychic i tell you that i would NEVER use a ouija board and im horrified each time i see these boards sold as games. This isnt any game… its like saying “which kids would enjoy playing with fire?” Thats non sense… Believers or not i just dont get it… why would anyone want to PLAY with spirits?

Im the type of person who believes that lost ones may be by our side but that we should not try and contact them. If they need to tell us something they will find a way. Can we just only let them rest in peace?

So i also think that ANYTHING that would come during a ouija seance wouldnt be what we truly want or expect… if anything comes that is.

“I have to go cause i want to go play with the dead… you know with that game they sold for less than 20 bucks at toys r us… i dont believe in all that… but still hey its gonna be great if this game works… maybe i will suceed in getting an evil spirit trying to possess me…”

Really i dont get why such a board can be found as a toy… ouija, tarot cards, oracles, pendulums, runes… they should be taken seriously by the believers and avoided by the others….
